- My baby boy can count from 1 to 100 and he can write properly the numbers 1 to 20. Yeah he is blessed with intelligence.
- It is amazing to be able to fall in love with someone so many times. Once is good, and then it happens again, again and again. We were having some ‘us’ time on Saturday, with him that it is, and at one point I glanced at him and it hit me once again, how much I love him.
- I was reliably informed that I am demanding, sometimes needed to be reminded that I am of the female species, can be difficult and more or less have too many un-necessary issues. Yeah, can one more or less summarise it as being a bitch? During the discussion, can’t the good things about me balance out the bad? Do I always take much more than I ever give back?
- Eh eh, I am really proud of my Rhys.
- The other day, I was in a taxi with a lady and a young boy sitting infront of me. The boy sneezed and he didn’t bother to cover his mouth. I expected and waited for the lady to say ’Bless you’ to him and that he should cover his mouth but she didn’t say nada. That really surprised me. Even my boy says bless you to someone who sneezes!
- One of my dreams as a young girl was to study aeronautical engineering and astronomy. A former schoolmate who I hadn’t talked to in a while called me and reminded me of that particular dream. She asked if I was still interested in it and when I thought about it, I realised that life has changed and so have my priorities. But it got me wondering, if everything aligned for me to actually study or if the opportunity was presented without any hassle in some gold wrapping, would I take it?
- Once upon a time, I used to dream of my father being the president of our country. Children! Being a child is really wonderful. Well, I grew up and was thankful that he wasn’t and never would be.

I was tagged by Mr. B2B and Tandra. I guess everyone now knows the rules so I don’t need to go into detail.
Some truths about myself…
1. I am very shy. Most people are actually surprised about this when they do find out about this because when I do meet most people, I seem to have it all together but it is a ‘front’.
2. In a state of pain, feeling of total abondment, great amount of sorrow and massive confusion about what lay ahead in the future, I was tempted to convert to Islam when I was in high school. Imagine that!
3. One of my most embarrassing moments is the time I almost drowned when my swimming was really bad and I headed out into the deep end of the pool. A friend actually had to help me out of that fix. Mbu I was trying to show off to impress the boys.
4. I do not like my Christian name.
5. At one point in my life, the thought of being a lesbian was very appealing.
6. Friendship is very important to me. I am closer to and love some of my friends more than I do my sister. Over the weekend, we were discussing the issue of being a surrogate mother and I realized that I would do it for a number of friends for whom that would be their only option of having biological children.
7. I love the number 7. I guess that is a bit obvious…
8. Perfume is not my thing so I hardly ever wear it, probably like once in 4 months.
9. I love to be impulsive once in a while. It kind of gives me a thrill. Kind of like doing something semi dangerous just for the thrill of it.
10. Any day of the week, I would pick the cozy option of chilling at home infront of the tv watching a movie with him over going to a club.\
This was actually hard.

This is the new stuff concerning Rhys:
His new word is What! You ask him something and he says, What, ask again and he will repeat it. Before that, like a week ago, he was loving Okay! Though he still uses it, its not as much as before. It is just so cute.
The music he is loving at the moment:
- 4 Minutes, Justin Timberlake & Madonna
- Tattoo, Jordin Sparks
- Kiss Kiss, Chris Brown ft. T-Pain. He has loved this one for a while, the video is just his thing. He even tries out the moves.
- Sensual Seduction, Snoop Dogg (seriously do not understand why)
- And the new Shaggy song, can’t remember the name
- No One, Alicia Keys; thought this is extremely sweet considering that I think of him when I listen to it. It’s our special song. He can actually sing the chorus…
This reminds me, my son flattered me! We were watching the Teenage Love Affair video when Rhys kept on pointing at the screen and saying, ‘Mommy’ whenever Alicia Keys would come on. I was flabbergasted (Tandra, its okay for you to check the dictionary). Alicia Keys is the epitome of beautiful and is so very hot! I was mob mob mob flattered. Banange my boy thinks I look like her, he is so good for my ego.
I really like Alicia Keys. She has wonderful music, have loved all 3 of her albums and besides being a celebrity, still has integrity. She doesn’t feel the need to show off her body or should I say get naked to attract fans to watch her video, listen to her music and thus buy her albums. She is one of the few young hot artists who does that. She is an all rounder, besides her superb voice, she has talent (playing the piano), writing music, is beautiful, hardworking and still remains a really lovely woman. She is one of the few artists who I would actually want to go for a show if she had one in Uganda, even if it was like at Nakivubo! She did come here but not perform, for charity related stuff.
Have so diverted from the main point, Rhys…
He loves kisses; giving them and receiving them. And for him it is not just one on the cheek. He wants to give and get kisses all together on both cheeks, the forehead and then on the top of the head. And when giving them, he likes to make the ‘mwah’ sound. Now aiint that just so sweet?
Omwana wangye nimurungi!
Vacation… good times
29 May 2008 10 Comments
Have been on a bit of vacation for the past 3 days and it has been sheer bliss…
Waking up at 10am, spending the days with my cutie Rhys, with him all over the place saying Mommy this and Mommy the other… I think he has also enjoyed having me at home. Have been playing with him, taking walks, giving him baths, kisses to soothe the pain when he gets hurt… its been amazing. I guess this is what housewives are able to enjoy everyday, besides the house chores… don’t think I would handle being one. After all those years of scholling, hassling at MUK with their beyond ridiculous system of administration and taking all of that crap (did i ever mention that none of my children will be going to that fake university on the hill? Harvard oyee!- have already started saving for that). Anyhu… have started straying like Tandra…
It has really been a joy spending so much time of my days with Rhys. The amazing thing is, so many of my workmates were asking me what I has planned for this time off work and when I told them that was going to sleep and have time with Rhys, they were surprised. The majority of them usually travel when on vacation, peeps at my office are loaded like that… very soon I shall also start telling tales of the Seychelles and all that…
At the moment, the songs he is really feeling are Touch My Body, Mariah (can you imagine! a 2.6 year old! children of these days…) and Kiss, Chris Brown ft T-Pain. He even knows the dancing moves that Chris Brown ‘does’ in that video, kika. Speaking of music, listened to Lady by Modjo, haven’t heard it in like forever, it brought back some memories… interesting memories…
Still have a few days left and planning on exhausting them with joy joy and then some more joy… anybody want some? holla!
Here and there…

It is amazing how the simplest of the stuff we do everyday can cause so much joy and excitement for a child.
Brushing our teeth before we go to bed with Rhys is like some serious progi of the day! When going to the bathroom, he announces to anyone within the vicinity or who he runs into,
“Going to brush teeth.”
Then when he finishes, proudly declares to everyone,
“Is brushed teeth!”
and can proudly display them for you like some form of evidence.
He also loves to put the lids or covers of anything and everything, mostly kitchen stuff; the juice jug, flasks, pans, bottle lids… basically anything that can be covered. When he sees you in the process of handling any of them, he starts,
“I want to cover.”
and at times when I am really busy trying to get things done in a hurry, he uses his very special kryptonite…
“Mommy please.”
and how can I dare resist that.
These days, as soon as I walk into the house with migugu, he rushes towards me to help me carry the stuff. He’s growing to be such a helpful young man, let’s pray he stays that way all through out his adult life… be a real gentlemen unlike so so so many Ugandan men…
Tewible Twos

Yes, Rhys is now displaying the symptoms of the tewible twos in full blast. Banange, tis tight. We had hoped that he would skip this stage, what with him being a special and exceptional baby. You doubt that, well I have some bits of evidence…
Rhys never did the whole cry baby drama, ever. When he was really young, after his usual naps during the day or at night, he wouldn’t alert the whole world that his awake with screams. Instead, he would suck his finger, waiting patiently and trusting that we would know and get him out of bed. We would actually be able to hear that sound using the baby monitor (yes we are cool like that). Anyway, it was always amazing that he would do that. Before he was born, I used to worry that he would keep the whole household awake with his cries especially at night like most babies but he never did.
Mister got his teeth when he was just four months and practically a full denture by 10 months (I think I’ve mentioned this before). Yes, I know, that smile now is a killer, my boy is soooooo cute. Okay need to focus…. ah yes…
He pees while standing all the time like a real man. Tell me of another baby boy his age or younger who does the same… I dare you… He is special!
But this twos drama is just crazy. Supposedly he is asserting himself and all that but banange… Hitting peeps, biting, kicking like you are one of his footballs and much more. Then every question he is asked ends with a resounding, NO! Tantrums when he doesn’t get his way… these are the times when one wishes for a time machine, forward to the time when he is at least 5… just to be on the safe side; cute and manageable.
In unrelated stuff, when writing this, I was listening to Seven Seas by Babyface… such beautiful lyrics… and I realised that I am such a sucker for beautiful words. No wonder all those boys (now men, mbu!) who would send applicas, (or is it applikes) never did impress moi with such blaze unmoving words, sijuyi, I will love you until Lake Victoria dries… WHAT?! Too bad I never kept any of them, would have been lovely to show the world a few of them… Ladies, do any of you have some to share, Tumwi?
Letting things be….

Ignorance is bliss, right?
Relationships can really be complicated at times. After reading Silvia’s post, I wondered if I ever did this would I actually tell him? I am naturally really a private person and practically border on secretive. Although with him, a lot tends to tumble out but still, there is some stuff I keep to myself.
Like I don’t think he would want to be hearing about how one of his close friends seriously hit on me and keeps on rambling about how he wishes that we had met before and that Rhys was his son… yes his supposed close friend was drunk at the time but isn’t this when the truth comes out with no inhibitions or the conscience telling you, “shut your mouth!”.
Seriously, does he need to know that drama? And kill that friendship that started when they were in Kampala Parent’s School?
Don’t get me wrong, faithfulness is extremely important, without it, the relationship crumbles but sometimes I really do think ignorance is bliss. Just let some things be…

Tagging business…

Was tagged by Candybox, Mr. B2B and Kissyfur, surprised by her…. Anyhu, this was kind of hard for me, here goes something I guess…
-
I used to be a tomboy, still have a lot of it in me. Do not like wearing skirts, loath wearing dresses… don’t think I look good in them in any case. So it will be a rare occassion to ‘land on me’ wearing one. Although he really loves it when I do… especially a short one. At uni, peeps thought I used to hide my legs coz they were ugly so when we had a trip and I unleashed them in some shorts, guys were like mesmerized… yes, I know, some parts of me are supposedly hot.
-
I am a real Daddy’s girl, or should I say was. Doing stuff together all the time… I would dot on him and I was his princess. To make matters worse, I am the last born so he spoilt me rotten. I look like both my parents but more like him… sometimes looking at his pics starts the water works and yet unlike most babes, I don’t cry just anyhow. Rhys really looks like him, sometimes its uncanny. I wish they had gotten the chance to know each other, would have loved each other to bits.
-
I love cats so one can understand why I have beef with the movie Cats And Dogs, even if I enjoyed it. Console, that was a movie, in real life, cats would totally kick the dogs butt.
-
Friendship is very important to me. In my case, a lot of times, the water is way way thicker than the blood. The trust, loyalty, commitment and love shared with my friends is something really valued, so when one of my close friends screws it up because of some nonsense like a man, it really really hurts. Don’t have a best friend but a number of very close friends… not into that best friend drama but if ever I was to have one, it would be her (she is so going to deny me… sigh).
-
I love music. Not all types are my thing, can’t stand country music and the majority of reggae. When I am upset, tired or in a stressed out mood and my soul needs some soothing, music would be the obvious choice for me. When I was at school and had to read for exams or do some form of school work, concentration would be best when listening to music. The invention of the ipod was like the best thing ever for this decade… as for the iphone, I am speechless!
-
I am a moderate cook but a superb baker, chocolate cake anyone?
And I hand the mantle over to Kiganda skunk, Kwesiga, Heaven, Jasmine, Foxxy Lamb and Firmgal.
